¡Hola! This is one of many pronunciation practice pages that I have used in the classroom. My students seem to enjoy this type of activity and are generally successful in helping each other to improve their pronunciation. Many are excited to participate at the end, demonstrating what they've learned.
Overview: This is a Spanish pronunciation practice set for the letter K. It is intended for students to use orally, in pairs or small groups, with teacher guidance.
Of course, the pronunciation of the K is pretty straightforward, but I use this set to highlight the fact that the K is rarely used in Spanish.
This set contains...
- the rule for pronouncing the letter K
- a list of words containing the K, for students to practice saying aloud
- a flashcard for the pronunciation rule for this letter
- flashcards for every word on the practice page (plus a few extras)
How I use this: I generally introduce this to students by explaining and modeling the pronunciation, and then practicing with them aloud using select words from the page. After that, I have them get into pairs or small groups and practice all the words on the page. I encourage students to listen to each other, and to correct each other as needed. Of course, I float throughout the room and assist students as needed. When students are finished, I bring the class back together and call on students to pronounce the words aloud.
Duration: Depending on the age and dynamics of the class, I'd say it takes 1 to 2 minutes to introduce the assignment, about 1 to 2 minutes for students to practice together, and then another 1 to 3 minutes to bring the class back together to share what they've learned.
¡Gracias! -- Sr. Weiner :)
