This worksheet is designed to be used and a pre-reading and post-reading activity to pari with independent reading of Spanish books. They can be used for enrichment for heritage speakers or as an extension activity to provide differentiation for more advanced learners.
The questions are all in Spanish, but they use basic vocabulary and cognates where possible to promote independent work. You may wish to review the questions in as a pre-learning activity, but once students understand them, they can use them with any all-Spanish book in your classroom library.
Encourage students to use context clues and artwork to make their best guesses. This is a valuable activity for getting students comfortable with the discomfort of not understanding every word in the target language. It also makes a great sub plan or post-exam activity.
This worksheet is provided as a Word doc. so you can edit it as needed. For example, you may wish to omit the direction about listening to the CD if your book collection doesn’t have a read-along disc.
