This listing is for a bundle of two rather simple "bell ringer" or "entry ticket" activities that I use with my Spanish 1 students after we first explore the difference between Saber and Conocer. I usually have students work on these sheets individually first, do a check-in with partners or groups, and then a whole-class recap to ease us into a day of practice and activities.
This bundle includes two handout sheets:
Sheet 1: a short 1/3 sheet forced-choice warm-up in English, where students select whether they would use saber or conocer to translate the English sentences. Students then translate the phrase as well.
Sheet 2: a slightly longer 1/2 sheet warm-up, where students read sentences in Spanish, and decide whether the statement applies to them (si) or not (no)
This product includes:
• A Microsoft Word document of the two warm-up handouts
• A PDF copy of those same handouts in case of any wonky formatting issues
Grammatical structures and vocabulary involved:
• The verbs saber and conocer (including the use of conocer to talk about "being familiar with something")
• Vocabulary: loosely corresponds to the textbook Descubre 1, chapter 6 (related to clothing and shopping)
Happy teaching and learning!
