In this Spanish, Back to School worksheet, students are guided in drawing a self-portrait. They are then asked to write their name, one letter at a time, in each of the boxes. They then count how many letters are in their name and write that number in the box. This is a great activity for teaching procedures of name and date writing, for assessing a students growth in drawing over time, and to introduce students to counting in a student-centered context. It can be a great display for the math board during the first days of school. A follow-up activity can be for the class to graph how many letters are in students' names, using post its for a vertical bar graph.
