“¿Dónde jugarán los niños?” is a perfect song for practicing the future tense along with vocabulary related to the environment! The band Maná is extremely committed to environmental activism, and this packet contains several activities that incorporate authentic, original materials from the band’s website, Twitter account, interviews, and their environmental foundation, Selva Negra, making for a culturally rich lesson that provides students with great practice in the interpretive mode, including both reading and listening, and follows up with both discussion questions and a creative writing activity, adding practice in the interpersonal and presentational modes. There are also several targeted grammar questions to help students practice the various forms of the future tense, as well as to briefly review the preterite and imperfect tenses. This lesson is best suited for an upper-level Spanish class (4th or 5th year).
