This Spanish Speaking Country Report lesson is a great way to provide your students with a fun layout to create a school presentations in the Target language. The project was designed to have students create a Power point about a Spanish Speaking country of their choice. They can read the Power point during presentations. Those who decide to work on a poster need to create a script to be able to present. They can print out the slides and create the poster. Great activity during a formal Observation. Perfect to build students presentations skills.

**Slide 1-Cover Page- Design a Cover Page . The Title is “Mi País es….. “ Include pictures highlighting the country. Please include your full name. This is the Introduction to your country.
**Slide 2- “Mapa del País”- Insert a picture of the map of the country. Write on the bottom the name of your country
**Slide 3 – “ Límites Geográficos” Describe in Spanish the location of your country. Complete the writing prompt with the name of the country to the North, East, West and South of your chosen Country. Just remember some countries have el Océano Pacifico and Océano Atlántico as limits . There are also countries located in the Mar Caribe too. You can put a map inside the picture spot.
**Slide 4- “La Geografía” Please include pictures of mountains, rivers and other significant geographical structures in your country. The Writing Prompt requires to fill in the names of famous mountain chains ( Las montañas son ) and famous rivers (Los Ríos son…) . The other two questions are for you to highlight prominent features such as … Tiene volcanes (volcanoes), selva (jungle).. Finally la Capital is the name of the name of the Capital of the country in Spanish.
**Slide 5- “Los Lugares Turísticos” Please insert pictures of tourist sites. Complete the writing prompt with the names of the sites you are featuring.
**Slide 6-”Animales del País”-Please insert pictures of native animals. Complete the writing prompt with the names of the animals you are featuring. If you want to do another slide for plants, trees and flowers please add it. The title will be “ Plantas del País” .
**Slide 7- “ El Clima” This slide should highlight the weather of the country. The writing prompt can be filled out suing the vocabulary in the slide. Insert a picture that shows the weather of the country.
**Slide 8- “ Símbolos del País” Please insert a picture of the flag (Bandera) and the National Coat of Arms (Escudo Nacional) . You can describe the flag for your presentation ( Los colores de la bandera son…) El Himno Nacional is the name of the National Anthem.
**Slide 9- “La Cultura” This slide is your opportunity to highlight the typical dishes and the typical clothing of your country. For your presentation you can read the names of dishes in Spanish (La comida típica es….) You can describe the clothing in simple terms such as La camisa es……, El pantalón es…… La falda es…… Finally describe their music .. La Música es …………… Feel free to play a song from the country.
**Slide 10- “Datos Interesantes” This slide is about interesting facts of your country. You can just read it in the presentation. The prompt meaning are : El Gobierno (government)….,El /La Presidente ( Name of the President)…., La Moneda (currency)…., La Población es (population size)…, La Religión (Religion)…, Las Ciudades Principales ( Main cities )…., Las Fiestas Nacionales (National Holidays)…, Les gusta ( Popular activities …use slide 12 for reference)

****Distribute the Power point to students. Give them the freedom to change the layout, delete the vocabulary in the slides. They will have a FUN project. They can add video links, music and change the entire formatting. They can add new slides highlighting special country holidays . Create sign up times so all students can present. They only need to read the slides for the Presentation. Great way to develop presentation skills in Spanish
****Distribute the Rubric to the class. Explain they will be graded on a 20 point scale. 1-2 Student does not meet expectations, 3 Student meets expectations and 4 Student exceeds expectation. The rubric was designed to assess both their oral and written efforts.
