Everything you need to teach your students about Spanish-speaking countries and capitals! Great project and activities to begin the school year with!
The project gets students talking about Spanish-speaking countries and gives them a good overview about the different countries whose official language is the one they will be learning in class. Many students come into a Spanish class with little information, just stereotypes and what they see in movies or on TV. This project is a great way for students to practice working together, speaking in front of the class, exploring resources on the internet, and being creative. I love starting off new classes with this project because it allows students to get to know each other and provides good background knowledge of countries that students can refer back to in the future.
For the project, students will be given a card with a country in English or Spanish. The person who has the same country in the other language will be his/her partner for the project. They will work together to complete an information sheet
on the Spanish-speaking country from their cards by researching that country in the computer lab and then create a poster
that displays the information they find, plus a map and pictures. Posters will then be presented to the class
. This is a great way to get students comfortable speaking in front of the class because this go around it is in English. Helps down the road when they are doing presentations in Spanish!
There is more than a project with this product, though! You will find everything you need to teach the countries and capitals to your students, as well as assess their understanding.
