This activity involves interpersonal communication between students and allows them to activate their imaginations. Have your students invent a new persona (or think of a celebrity), practice personal descriptions, AND practice the present subjunctive--all at the same time and all in Spanish!
The students will jot down their descriptions, then have them sit one on one with each other and "speed date". I like to make it "fancy" by putting red dollar store table cloths on the desks with unlit candles (also from the dollar store) and/or putting a silk rose in a cheap vase or a glass Coca Cola bottle. The kids get really into in when you make it feel like they are in a restaurant!
You can extend this into an activity where you have them make questions based on the prompts in the document, or you just have them read the sentences off about themselves. However you do it, put a minute on your stopwatch and make them speak in Spanish the whole time. When the time is up...NEXT! Have them move on to their next 'date'.
My kids LOVE this activity and we always have a blast doing it!
