This is a power point to teach students how to conjugate stem-changing verbs in the present tense in Spanish. Examples are given of -AR, -ER, and -IR verbs with "e to ie," "o to ue," and "u to ue" stem-changing verbs. The power point uses a cowboy boot to visually represent for students which forms of the verb require a stem-change and which forms do not. There are a total of 17 slides, and the power point is intended to be used over a 2-day period. At the end of the first part, there is a slide that asks students to conjugate the verb "querer" along with a slide to check their work and another slide with 5 fill-in-the-blank sentences with animated answers so students can practice using stem-changing verbs in context. At the very end of the power point, there is another slide with 10 fill-in-the-blank sentences with animated answers so students can practice. Throughout the power point (except for the last 5 practice questions at the end), the stem-changes and the verb endings are highlighted in a different color to help draw students' attention to the differences in the conjugations. This power point is appropriate for Spanish 2 and 3 students, and for Spanish 1 students who have mastered regular present-tense conjugations. This would also be a useful resource for bilingual or dual language classes as well.
