Using Authentic Materials in your Spanish classroom means more than just newspapers and videos. The images that you use to decorate the classroom should also be authentic. Each of the slides offered in this download can be printed and displayed in your classroom to help create a more authentic atmosphere.
Also, as a PowerPoint, the teacher can show the signs in the presentation and solicit student responses regarding the cultural aspects of the street and place names. For example, Cusco is a city with a large population of people whose first language is Quechua. As such, many of the street names are written phonetically in Spanish although many of the words are Quechua in origin.
This PowerPoint contains 25 slides of street signs taken during a trip that I took to Cusco, Peru in August 2016. All of the images are my original photography and are intended for use in your classroom. No commercial use or reproductions are allowed without my permission.
