Students review the causes of the subjunctive in noun clauses, and examine the formula that characterizes most sentences in this category. Included is a worksheet where they examine a set of sentences to verify that this formula is followed, with an opportunity to discuss variations that may come up.
Phrases that trigger the subjunctive are contrasted with phrases that are followed instead with the infinitive or the indicative, and students practice identifying these variations.
