Revision of the imperfect tense role play. Firstly I ask the students to work independently in pairs/ groups of 3 to translate as much of the dialogue as they can in a set time and to discuss the formation of the imperfect tense. I ask quick finishers to discuss and decide the 2 easiest and the 2 most difficult words to pronounce. I then check the translations and drill the pronunciation of the more difficult words. I tell them to focus on memorising as much as possible and to aim for perfect pronunciation. To complete the role-play I tell the students to stand in a circle shape around the edges of the classroom. I tell the students they are person A, person B, A, B, A, B and so on. Person A reads the A role-play and person B answers based on the B role play. When I shout adiós! Person B moves on to speak to the next A student in a clockwise direction and the students recommence the role play. I move them on 3 or 4 times before telling the As that they will now read the B role and the Bs will now read the A role. The last time I challenge them to say as much of the role play as they can from memory! For added drama I sometimes ask the students to act out the role plays using different emotions or pretending to be different celebrities which they love!
