Spanish Thanksgiving Word Wall
Each of the 22 vocabulary words is on its own strip of paper with a picture illustrating the vocabulary word. These strips can be laminated and posted on a Thanksgiving-themed bulletin board! This document is a PDF.
Thanksgiving Powerpoint & Vocabulary
The powerpoint teaches all 22 of the vocabulary words in context and teaches the vocabulary words with clipart. The questions and answers are all animated! This powerpoint is suitable for all levels of Spanish, but Spanish 2 or higher classes would be more successful in understanding all slides. The vocabulary is a PDF and includes a black & white version as well as a colored version.
The classwork includes 2 activities to practice the 22 vocabulary words. One activity is a matching in which students match vocabulary words with their pictures. Students of all levels will be successful with this activity. The other activity has students answer questions and has clipart prompts for the answers. Some questions are appropriate for Level 1 and others are more suited for Level 2 or higher. The classwork is a PDF.
Thanksgiving Yo Tengo...Quien Tiene
This is a fun game for students of all levels to review Thanksgiving vocabulary. A student reads their card "Yo tengo la calabaza. ¿Quién tiene agradecido?" and whoever has agradecido has to respond and read their question. The game continues until all students have read their card and the question loops back to the first student. Students can work to beat their time! This set includes 22 cards. A teacher's guide is included. The game is saved as a PDF.
Thanksgiving Memory Game
Students of all levels can practice Thanksgiving-related vocabulary with Memory. There is a picture and a vocabulary word for students to match the pairs. The lines to cut along are thick to make it easy to cut the cards out. Cards should be copied onto card stock or thick paper and laminating before use will make them last even longer!
Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt Activity
Scavenger Hunts are a great game for students to practice this vocabulary, and they can work at their own pace! The teacher posts half-sheets with vocabulary on them around the room and students start at any half-sheet near them, see the clipart picture, write the vocabulary word on their paper, find the vocabulary word around the room, walk over to it, see the next clipart, and repeat. Students get to get up out of their seats, rather than simply match vocabulary pictures and words on a worksheet. Some students will race each other to see who can finish first and others will take their leisurely time. The last verb students get to will lead loop them back to their first verb, so students can start anywhere in the loop of verbs. Two versions are included - one with pictures as clues, the other with a description of the vocabulary word in Spanish.
Thanksgiving Coloring Activity
Students will color in a turkey based on subject pronouns. There is a conjugated verb in each part of the turkey and students color each part based on the subject pronoun the verb matches with. There are 3 versions - a present tense, a preterite tense, and a future tense. This activity is easily adaptable for classes of all levels!
Estoy Agradecido Activity
Students have to write what they are thankful for this year. This activity can be adapted for lower levels, but upper level students will be more successful.
These activities are ideal for a variety of middle and high school Spanish classes.
