This is a spin off from the popular "Exploding Kittens" card game. I call it "Exploding Piñatas" and have adjusted the rules for a great and fun way to practice the chapters vocabulary. In groups 3-6, players take turns drawing cards and hope that they don't draw an "exploding piñata", all the while they are trying to match up vocab words to use as actions to manipulate the game in their favor. This set is for places and stores, however the document is editable and you could replace the vocab very easily to customize this for your classroom. I recommend printing the playing cards out on cardstock so they can be used year after year. Allow 30-40 mins to cut out playing cards or have students do it at the start of class. Game time is approximately 45 min. I don't recommend this as a sub plan only because it does require some game play explanation from the teacher. Once students understand rules it is completely student lead and they really get into it.
