I like to use this activity when my students don't seem to be putting in the work to study their vocabulary....
I fill in column 1 with 20 of their vocabulary words and then make copies. Each student gets their own paper. When you say go, the students have 2 minutes (or however long you decide) to work in column 2 and fill in the translation. When time is called, they take a different color pen and we correct their work as a class. At the bottom of the column they record how many words they have correct. I give them 2 minutes to study, and then students fold their paper to cover column 2 (so they can't see their answers), and the process is repeated.
What I like is that this activity focuses on repetition in order to learn vocabulary, and the students like that they can see an instant improvement in the vocab words they know.
