This set of files includes a vocabulary list of 50 words, a quiz, and a key for the quiz. Each vocabulary word has one distracter (which is similar to the correct word) on the quiz. Also, each page of the quiz is independent of the other pages so that you can separate the words into smaller quantities if desired.
When my high school students first saw one of my vocabulary quizzes, I saw a lot of "ugh" looks around the room. Unfortunately, my kids underestimated their first vocab quiz with me because they thought they could just select a word that looked familiar. They quickly realized that wasn't going to work. I want my kids to know these words beyond a doubt and not just to make a best guess. So, I insert distracters that are dangerously close to the actual vocabulary word. As a result, I have a better insight on whether or not my students have achieved the vocab goal for the week.
For example: “pineapple” has two options: pino and piña.
I hope this helps to increase the vocabulary skills for your class.
