This is an interactive holiday interview activity that practices the verb "querer"
as well as some common gift vocabulary for the holidays.
There are two sets of 32 cards
- the first set only has the image of the "gift" on each card (e.g., image of a car, dog, computer, camera). The second set is identical except includes the image and vocabulary
(e.g., image of car and "un coche," image of a dog and "un perro"). You can choose which set to use depending on how much vocabulary your students already know. I recommend that you laminate the cards so that they last longer!
Each student receives a card. This is the gift that he or she "wants" for Christmas. Students interview 10 classmates and ask, "Que quieres para la Navidad?" and fill in the chart with the information.
Students then use different forms of "querer" to write complete sentences and make comparisons.
They finish up with a fun drawing activity
- they draw what they actually want for Christmas (probably not included on the cards), and look up how to say that item in Spanish.
This is a great activity to practice the yo, tu, el/ella and nosotros forms of "querer."
