This is a fun assignment for a Spanish 2+ class
before or after winter break. It puts a spin on the classic task of writing a letter to Santa. Instead of asking for the traditional gifts (money, a car, toys, etc.), students need to ask Santa for 6 traits that will improve their life.
A list of 15+ personality traits in Spanish
(in noun form) such as patience, determination, laughter, etc., are included.
Students explain to Santa that they have behaved well this past year
and then outline their 6 desired traits
explaining what they will be used for. The grammar focus is "por" vs. "para."
You will be surprised how genuine and honest students
will be when writing this. You may find that Johnny actually realizes that he would benefit with some "productivity" and "efficiency" :) I always love reading these letters each year and find myself tearing up after reading a few of them.
An example letter is included in the description.
A suggested rubric is included as well.
If some students do not celebrate Christmas, I always have them write to their parents (or someone else) for a Hanukkah gift or birthday present, etc.
