Do you have students who will be living with a host family in Latin America this summer? Or students who will be living abroad while studying? Or who will be volunteering in a small, rural, Spanish speaking community?
This guide was made by a teacher who has served many times in Latin America on volunteer projects, from Amigos de las Americas to the Peace Corps and studying abroad. Its purpose is to help students integrate into small, rural communities while serving on volunteer projects. It helps students engage with their host families, host communities, and host agencies, while touching on a variety of cultural topics. Please see the upload preview for the table of contents. A total of 38 pages.
All activities are in Spanish, mostly for high school levels "3rd year" and above, or college levels 1.5 years and above.
This workbook was originally intended for Amigos de las Americas volunteers, but would be very useful for Peace Corps volunteers and other travelers who plan on staying with a family for at least a couple weeks and want to improve upon their Spanish while learning about culture.
