This sub day packet includes:
-pictures and descriptions of unusual foods eaten in the Spanish-speaking world (7 different countries--two foods each)
-39 questions that follow the order of the packet and also ask students to give opinions
-a map where students find and label the countries from the packet
-a Venn diagram where students compare and contrast an unusual American food with one of the foods from the packet
This packet is perfect for a sub day because it meets a cultural standard but is all in English. Since the questions follow the packet in order, it's easy for kids to follow and subs to oversee. Some of the foods are pretty unusual, so most kids will find it interesting.
I used this with my Spanish students, and it worked for all three middle school grades. It's great to have just one plan for all your classes regardless of level! It can be modified by leaving out the map and the Venn diagram or using the pages after the questions as extensions.
