I have a listening center in my first grade classroom. After the students listen to the stories, I have them complete some type of activity that allows them to respond to the story. This is a cut and glue activity that involves reading. First graders love to cut and glue! For lower readers, you might have them complete the activity as a group or with partners. Otherwise, the students should be able to complete the activity individually after listening to the story. I allow students to use the book to complete the worksheet; Students might use the book cover to find the author and illustrator of the story. They should probably be able to complete the rest of the sentences without the book.
Older grade levels could adapt this activity by not including the word bank. Students could simple write the answer on the line.
