This activity is designed to help your students with apraxia or severe speech disorders practice sequencing sounds and words. Each card features a sparkly shape in the center with 2 words alternating around the outline of the shape. Your students should start at the arrow and say each word as they trace the path of the shape. There are a total of 104 cards as well as 8 blank cards so that you can add your own words.
All of the words in this activity contain only the early-developing consonant sounds /p, b, m, t, d, n, h, w/. They use the following syllables shapes: CV, VC, CVC, and CVCV. There are 32 different CV words, 6 VC words, 42 CVC words, and 24 CVCV words. Each word appears on 2 different shape cards. Typically, each word appears the first time with another word that contains the same syllable shape and one of the same consonant sounds. The second time the word appears, it is paired with another word that has the same syllable shape but a wider variety of consonant sounds.
The final 8 shape cards are blank so that you can create your own patterns. I have included extra copies of all of the pictures used in this activity. You can cut them out, laminate them, and put them on the shapes in any order of your choosing. You could also cut out the pictures and let your students glue them on the shapes.
I have also included larger flashcards with all 104 words that are used in this activity so that your students can get extra practice with the words.
