Action words are known to be the building blocks that enable young children to speak in full sentences. By two years of age, children will usually have acquired 250 words and be beginning to combine words into short phrases Eg. 'Daddy gone' or 'me want that'. The next step in expressive language development is for them to use more verbs ('Eg. drinking, eating, brushing), which in time leads to the production of complete sentences (Eg. 'The boy is eating cereal'). Some children find it more difficult to acquire actions words and benefit from additional practice and support.
This resource contains 50 slides with engaging Vectors that show animals completing different actions. These are ideal stimulus pictures to develop a child's ability to label actions and build up towards using complete Subject Verb Object Sentences.
