Some students are naturally good at interaction during conversation, while others dominate or leave their partner to do most of the talking.
Here is a handout to help you highlight the factors needed for positive interaction - turn-taking, active listening, and interested body-language.
Get them brainstorming when they feel good about talking with someone (in pairs or small groups). Then get them to check their ideas as a class, using the handout. Next, give them a topic to talk about and afterwards, they can reflect on which aspects they did well and which they could improve on next time.
Suitable for adult learners, older high school students.
