This resource is a visual support for monitoring speaking rate. It provides a meter for students to be rated or rate themselves or each other on their rate of speech.
There are two basic versions, one contains animal picture representations of speaking speed (i.e. a turtle for too slow, a dog for just right, and a cheetah for too fast), as well as a version for older students that uses word descriptions (i.e. "way too slow", "too slow", "just right", etc). Each version comes with and without an arrow pointing to "just right." The version without the arrow can be used to draw on when rating yourself or others. Each page comes with a full color version, as well as a black and white version for printing.
This resource will help increase students' awareness of their rate of speech, in order to identify when or why communication breakdown may be occurring.
