This Functional Environmental Items Unit is designed to help even the most impacted the students access print. It includes a symbolated text meant to be read as a whole group, in small groups work center rotations, and also independently. The text is symbolated and meant to help students access even words that they may not be familiar with. The sentences are simple, clear, and predictable. Also, the unit has 2 leveled symbols with a label. One is intended for students who can access printed texts, and the other is for students who are still accessing through symbols. Additionally, a Bingo game is meant to have a fun activity where students can work independently or be paired. Next, there are two Google Slides (powerpoints) where students can access the same text as the symbolated textbook and they are tasked with finishing the sentences. Independent students can create their own Google slides with their own images and it is great practice for other tech skills (typing, searching, inserting images and textboxes, etc.) whereas the students needing more help can use the template. In my overview I explain how to use all of the activities in whole group, small groups, and I even include how and why to use environmental print related to functional items as oppose to sight words.
