Description of Ending Sound Card Game –Autumn
Are your kids having trouble getting the hang of those ending sounds I know how you feel. Many times the kiddos when they say words and leave off the ending sounds of words. This game will help the kiddos hear the ending sounds of words.
How to Use
The game is not only teaching the ending sounds, but the kiddos love to play it. I laminate the cards for durability. I usually make a class set of the game (10 sets)so I copy the game in different color card stack per set. The colors help me and the kiddos sort and clean up the game efficiently. I like to have my whole class start centers by playing this game.
It is also great for small group work. I like to play in groups of 3 or 4.
Who Can Use this Game
It is perfect for students learning to listen for the last sounds in words. The ability to sound out or decode words is an important step in reading.
There are challenges with some letters because they don’t follow the rules of English, when “s” takes on the “z” sound. This game is to teach children to hear ending sounds in words.
When to Use this Game
A difference in my teaching was when I started playing games similar to this. My kiddos were learning their sounds, letters, words, and money in an exciting game situation. The kids loved it. The anticipation was high and they were playing while learning! They even asked to play the games during free play.
