These are great signs to use for your (centers) Practice Stations. You'll find cute and colorful listening, reading, computer, word study, phonological awareness and more. As a Curriculum Coach, I prefer teachers use the term Practice Stations as opposed to Centers. Any activity you move to an independent or small group station, should only be an activity the students are capable of being successful at 90-95% of the time. These activities will be something you have taught in small guided groups and the children will sometimes remind you that they have done this previously. If you call them Practice Stations and remind them of the old saying, "Practice makes perfect", they will understand why they are doing the activities over and over again. A much easier way for them to understnad why they are repeating them. This really works!
