This unit has been used in my Modern Physics class. This course is offered to Juniors and Seniors at my school, and Physics 1 is a pre-requisite. There will be no math used past Algebra 1 or 2. We teach on a block schedule, so the unit may need to be modified for pacing in a classroom that is not on block.
This is a 10 day unit, with content for 8 instructional days, 1 review packet (with key) and 2 test versions (with keys). Topics include making scale models in physics, frames of reference, the ether, simultaneity, as well as effects of special relativity including length contraction, time dilation, and the twin paradox.
Everything is here and ready for you to begin your study of special relativity with your students. Your download will include 8 powerpoint presentations, 5 practice pages and/or note guides, a review packet (with key) and two tests (with keys). I am also including an Einstein word search, an extra credit opportunity, and the unit plan along with learning targets.
