I use Scavenger Hunts to review a lot of different subjects in my classes. This one reviews finding the sides of special right triangles. (30°-60°-90° and 45°-45°-90°) There are 12 multi-step problems, all with exact answers given. (My classes can't use calculators with this.)
It can be used in a Geometry class to review special right triangles before a test. It can also be used in an Algebra 2, PreCalculus class, or a Trigonometry class. Instead of re-teaching these ratios, I give this Scavenger Hunt to the higher classes just prior to starting their section of angles in the unit circle. I let them work through these triangles and remember the ratios of the sides on their own. (I do this with a lot of previously learned topics.) The students enjoy the Scavenger Hunt, and like remembering previously learned skills in this manner.
Students have fun with Scavenger Hunts. They try hard to find the correct answer so their team can finish first!
It includes instructions of how to use the Scavenger Hunt, a worksheet that students can use to record their answers, and a homework worksheet that reviews the same subject.
