Product Description

This assignment has students viewing, analyzing, and critiquing famous speeches. Before the speeches, students will watch a short TED talk on how to give a speech, followed by reading an article on tips for great speeches. Students then view speeches by Brutus and Antony from the play, as well as Barack Obama, Steve Jobs, and Martin Luther King Jr, among others. They look at elements of the speech such as rhetorical argument, delivery, and message to analyze the effectiveness of the speech.
