Sentence Structure Flip Books
I don’t know about you, but sentence structure , using descriptors, and expanding the length of utterances are top on the list of goals for so many of my students. This is a simple flip book to give some visual structure for students as they read along. It is also a great tool for home practice as they can retell the story while getting practice using action words, the –ing ending, and complete sentences.
Follow the Clues
Students will describe story vocabulary using the descriptive language of color, parts, and action. You can cut each of the cards out separately or cut them in horizontal strips and fold like a flashcard so that the clue is on one side and the answer on the other. Includes:
-Clue cards with matching answer cards
-Picture choice board
-Sentence Builder with sentence structure and answer choices
Using a sorting mat, students will sort pictures into the categories of swim/fly, small/big, or short/tall. You can also extend this for students to draw or write their own items in the boxes of the sorting mat instead of using the pictures. The short/tall and small/big category sorts are differentiated to two levels. For the learners who are more familiar with the concepts of short and tall, they can sort using all large cards or all small cards. For the learners who need extra visual cues, the size of the cards in this set goes along with the category (short or tall, small or big)
Students will use the templates to complete the sentence using an animal + action. Various templates provided depending on the type of structure needed. You can use the template with animal pictures provided or let students create their own collection with the blank template.
