A visual YES/NO Prompt Board
With 36 pictures to use for yes/no!
This activity gives you opportunity to ask a variety
of yes/no questions. For example,
Does a cow say “Moo!”
Is this a ____?
Do you like (ice cream, broccoli, etc.)?
Does a (noun) (do this)? (Does a butterfly swim?, Does a dolphin fly?
Does a (noun) have ___? (Does a bird have wings?)
A YES/NO visual prompt board
36 pictures to ask YES/NO with.
Preparation: Print on cardstock and laminate. Cut
pictures into individual pieces.
Place picture on the rectangle square on the visual
Ask a yes/no question. Ask obvious questions at first, as “Is this a bird?, “Is this a dolphin?”. When child has some success, ask other questions, “Does a cow say “Moo”?”, etc. Ask like/dislike questions as “Do you like milk?”
When you exhaust the pictures provided, use your own pictures.
Provide necessary support. You may have to model the answers first
and point to answer or hand-over-hand for child to select right answer.
If the child is nonverbal, he/she can point to the yes or no.
