This new 2019 resource has been designed to increase a student's understanding of /F/ vs. /TH/ sound placements. We start by increasing their auditory discrimination of the sounds and then we include sound placement sheets in order to show each student how to produce the the sounds correctly. The /F/ sound was targeted because this is a very common sound substitution for the very difficult voiced and unvoiced /TH/ sounds.
Minimally paired words are very helpful for teaching the difference between he /F/ and /TH/ sounds because it teaches them to discriminate between correct and incorrect productions. When they hear an incorrect sound substitution and recognize it as so, they may start to independently move their articulators into the correct position in order to say the word correctly.
This packet contains teaching tips for the /F/ and voiced and unvoiced /TH/ sounds, picture therapy cards, games, coloring pages, and worksheets.
The minimal pair flashcards and the /F/ vs. /TH/ game board all come in color to encourage fun and engagement with the students. We encourage these minimal pair flashcards to be laminated for repetitive use for fun scavenger hunts, memory matches and sensory bins. Other than that, you will find that this product is a QUICK PRINT/NO PREP unit that can be easily printed out many times over for students because the worksheets and activities are in black ink only.
We included minimal pairs at the word level and at the sentence levels. This helps your students to work on varying degrees of difficulty within their articulation therapy sessions.
Want a closer look? Check out our preview where we have listed the contents of the unit and have pictures of the actual pages that are included. We even included a Download the practice sheet right away to see if your student could benefit from more fun activities.
