This is a speech therapy motivational tool I use with my students. Each scoop of ice cream has an objective and/or goal. The pages can be individualized by writing the student's name and the goal/objective they are working on the spaces provided. When the students progress to the next objective/goal, they add another scoop. "Ice Cream Cone Builder" helps motivate students and encourages students to take responsibility for their own success.

I've noticed that if I don't remember to bring my students' goal tracking sheet to the therapy table, they make it a point to remind me :)

Laminate for reuse!

This product comes with the ice cream cone with a place for the student's name and goal, scoops with the objective/goal on the scoop, topping, and whipped cream. The objectives/goals written on the scoops are as follows:

-answers yes/no questions
-asks yes/no questions

This is how I use this product in my speech therapy sessions:

If using the motivational page that is ALREADY IN COLOR, I laminate the scoops, cone, and toppings, and cut them out. If using the BLACK AND WHITE, I have the students color the scoops of ice cream, cone, and topping, and then laminate. I prefer to use tape to hold everything together as the student progresses through the objectives/goals. I also tape the ice cream cone to construction paper so they are not so “floppy” as the cone grows taller. If running short on time or resources, you can skip the laminating step, glue the produce to construction paper, and place it in a sheet protector.

I personally like to have the student place the scoop on the cone AFTER they meet the objective/goal. One could also place the scoop on the cone to symbolize the objective/goal the student is CURRENTLY working on.

This item also serves as a great tool during ARC meetings. I show the parents and other educators what the student must do in order to meet a goal, and depending on the type of meeting, it’s also a good way to show them the progress the student has made since the last annual review.
