This activity is for students to practice “regular past tense”
usage in a very visual, basic, and structured way!
I have successfully used a version of this booklet for over
five years. I start here and slowly fade the visual support, until
they formulate regular past tense sentences on their own.
This is practical since most of these activities are in the
student’s morning routine. There should be a familiarity to the

Present the picture and ask, “What did you do this morning?” Select the correct verb square. Place the appropriate verb square on blank square of the sentence (I brushed my teeth.). Read the sentence.
NOTE: I provided two versions of the past tense verb icons. One contains the “ed” ending (Page A), and the other contains blanks where the “ed” ending would be (Page C). Start with the version with the “ed” ending, then when the child can do that, move onto the version with the blanked out “ed” ending. Slowly fade the amount of support, until the child can say the sentence correctly when you cover the sentence strip.
IF you have any questions, I’d be happy to be of help.
