Product Description

I created this speech and language screening for use in the school district where I worked, and it’s been used district-wide for years now! Simply put, it's quick to administer, easy to use and engaging for children in grades PreK through second grade. It thoroughly screens articulation skills, voice skills, fluency skills, and expressive and receptive language skills (including syntax, morphology, basic concepts, responding to questions, conversational skills). I've also used the articulation section with older students (up to 5th grade). View the preview for a much closer look!

WHAT'S IN THIS DOWNLOAD?

  • Detailed directions about how to use this screening tool
  • 4 different comprehensive protocols: 3 come complete with popular normative data included right on the protocol (from Sanders, 1972, from Smit, et. Al, 2000, and from McLeod and Crowe, 2018) and one includes space for you to write in your own school district adopted norms, if needed.
  • Five pages of stimulus materials - 45 colorful stimulus cards in all
  • Everything you need to quickly and thoroughly screen your students' speech (voice, fluency, articulation/intelligibility) and language skills
  • Language skills screened include prepositions, present progressive, plural nouns, possessive nouns, pronouns, verbs in various tenses, understanding of basic concepts (middle, near, different, same, most, empty, on, out, in, under, next to), responding to wh- questions (who, what, when, where, how, why), and informal conversational skills.
  • Links and citations for the normative data used in this screening

You should know that keyring style card deck also comes in handy in therapy! The stimulus cards are wonderful for eliciting language (including language samples), practicing specific articulation and language skills (verbs, pronouns, generating sentences, narratives, describing). I've even used them as story starters and writing prompts!

Finally, when assessing students, it's always good to interview the child's teachers. Find all my teachers interviews HERE. They truly help pinpoint how students' speech and language difficulties impact them at school!
