This getting to know you game, which is fondly referred to as the “Dice Game” was initially created for students who stutter. It features a variety of expressive task levels, including one-word answers, simple phrases, sentences, sequencing, stories, time pressures, and questions to learn how students feel about their speech. Over the years, I have used this game with a variety of students. This game can be used during assessment to build rapport or to obtain language samples. The “Dice Game” can be also be utilized in therapy for articulation at conversation level, answering “Wh” questions, working on fluency techniques, and to help students understand topic maintenance. I encourage you to answer the questions during the game along with your students. My students think it is hilarious learning what things scare me or learning how old I am.
