Students will understand the difference between speed and velocity.
Students create a walking course out of meter sticks and measure the time it takes to walk it. The distance they walked is greater than the displacement and learn the difference when they calculate the speed and velocity of their motions.
MS-PS3-1. Construct and interpret graphical displays of data to describe the relationships of kinetic energy to the mass of an object and to the speed of an object.
This Lab takes place before a Kinetic Energy lab because I want the students to understand speed, velocity, and the difference between them.
