The activities teach and reinforce 14 spelling rules to assist the reading and pronouncing of the letter a. Each spelling pattern is represented by 12 words and matching pictures to create a visual and auditory imprint.
The picture (image) and its name (word) helps to recall each spelling pattern. As the brain attends better to patterns than to single random letters, the words grouped on the basis of the same pattern and joined with the real image (picture), will be learned and recalled faster.
The activities are set out in 3 parts:
Part 1 and 2 - Learn the spelling rules and practice each spelling and reading pattern by choosing and writing the correct words under the pictures (from the word bank).
Part 3 - There are 8 pages (20 pictures per page) of assessment activities which are based on spelling patterns introduced in parts 1 and 2.
The task is to write the correct word under each picture. The words are not included, they are printed on the next pages. Have a go and then correct the mistakes using the list words.
The use of 12 questions (problems) makes the program compatible with the miniLUK self checking system.
