This game can be played with the whole class, small groups or in teams. It is designed to benefit students who learn kinesthetically.
Each letter is spread out on the ground in the classroom or outside. The teacher chooses a word to spell. Students pass a soft ball (asteroid) around the space until it reaches someone who can bounce it on the letters (stars) to spell the word.
It is recommended that students say the name of the letter for those who can’t see. You can also use multiple copies of each letter so that students can pass the ball along if they are unsure about how to spell the word and so more students can have a go. You can use a points awards system which encourages students to work as a team and achieve a target.
Laminate the letters to prolong their use.
