Speling Activities to Use with any Spelling list

Differentiated spelling activities instill a love of words, if presented in meaningful and sometimes, humorous ways. No more memorizing lists and lists of words. No more writing spelling words ten times each!

My differentiated activities are self-explanatory. Each page has directions and examples to give students a feeling of independence. Teacher directed instructions may be needed for a couple of pages, but for the most part, they are are stand alone activities. Some may be used as informal assessments to determine mastery or who requires requires reviews.

There are a total of 48 spelling activities. Other pages are teaching suggestions and other information.

Colored pencils are required for some of the activities.

I couldn't resist adding “Scrumdiddlyumptious” Words - A fun activity based on Roald Dahl “Gobblefunk” words from his book, BGF (Big Friendly Giant) that he uses in his other books. Two pages. Students create their own “Gobblefunk” words and for one word from their spelling list. They also have to create “gobblefunk” words for other words they’re familiar with. 2 pages

Wanted Poster - Use words from other languages. This activity is to introduce students to languages other than their dominant language. Teachers might ask student volunteers, who speak different languages, to contribute their ideas. Complete teacher how-to suggestions and a visual are given.
