My students LOVE these active, dirt cheap spelling-review games!
Day 1: Shuffle - Given a prompt, students identify a spelling word, unscramble the given letters, and rewrite the word correctly. (Supplies: dry-erase marker & eraser)
Day 2: Swat - On the count of 3, students from opposing teams race to swat the correctly-spelled word. (Supplies: 2 fly swatters)
Day 3: K-R-L - Post practice test, students categorize their words according to the number of mistakes they made (i.e. Know It, Review It, or Learn It). (Supplies: Notebook paper & pencils)
Day 4: Sparkle - Students work together to build words by orally supplying letters when their turns come. (No supplies needed)
Day 5: Wipe Out - Opposing teams compete to "Wipe" each other off the game board. Each time a team member spells a word correctly, he or she erases an X from an opponent's score. The team with the most X's wins. (Supplies: dry-erase marker & eraser)
