1) Grade One Spelling Word List (1 Page):

The Grade One Spelling Word List is a master list of spelling words that can be taught to Grade One students both at school and at home. The spelling words range from easy words (be, can, put, do) to more difficult words (about, many, there). Choose words from the spelling list that match the spelling abilities of the students in your class. The list represents words that can be used for beginner spellers and words that can be used for more advanced spellers that have already mastered the easier words.

The words in the Spelling Word List are specific words that students should be able to master at the Grade One level. These are not the only words that should be taught to Grade One students; however, these are the most prominent words that Grade One’s should be proficient at spelling. Teachers can add additional words to the list that match the content being taught to their students as I have provided blank word list charts to help facilitate this.

2) Blank Charts

a) Grade One Spelling Words - Yearly List - BLANK CHART (4 Pages):

The Grade One Spelling Words Yearly List is a BLANK CHART that teachers can use to plan out their spelling word lists for the whole year. For each week teachers select up to a maximum of 6 words. The chart is simply to help teachers organize their spelling word lists for the year.

b) Take Home - Student Weekly Spelling List - BLANK CHARTS (3 Pages):

For this blank chart, teachers fill out the chart with the spelling words they want their students to work on at home for each week. There are 3 charts to choose from: 3 Word Spelling List Chart, 4 Word Spelling List Chart, and 5 Word Spelling List Chart. Simply choose the chart that works best for your students.

c) Spelling Marks - BLANK CHART (1 Page):

The Spelling Marks Chart has a section for Student Names and a section for Spelling Marks. The last column in the chart can be used to calculate the Total Marks for each student.

3) Spelling Test Templates (Pre-Test, Test, & Post-Test):

The Spelling Test Templates were created for teachers that need a variety of different spelling test templates to accommodate the range of spelling abilities in a classroom.

Learning to spell words can be a lot of fun for students. The following is a list of spelling activities you could incorporate into your weekly spelling program:

a) Print each spelling word onto a separate sheet of paper and laminate the paper. Students can roll play dough into long strips and use the play dough to form the words. The play dough can be placed on top of the spelling words.

b) Use Alphabet Cookie Cutters and play dough to cut out the letters of the alphabet that form the spelling words.

c) Use Alphabet Stamps and ink to spell the weekly spelling words.

d) Use washable felts to practice spelling the words.

e) Use finger painting or paint brushes to practice painting the weekly spelling words.

f) Use Pudding Finger Painting to practice spelling the words. Note: Check if any of your students have food allergies.

Skills: Spelling and Phonics.

FYI about the Creator:

I am a certified teacher and I have taught and tutored for most of my career. I developed these teaching tools as an opportunity to share with you my resources that are proven winners in any educational environment. In designing my products, I kept in mind that not all students learn at the same level or time, and so I have made them all similar in style, but different in levels so that other students are not aware that others are either ahead or behind the general class; hence, that is why you can purchase products that work for more than one grade level. I hope you enjoy the materials I have created and wish you much success with your students too!
