A compilation of spelling journal activities that students can complete daily to consolidate learning of new spelling words. Activities include:
Colour Trace (American spelling 'Color Trace' also included)
Small Words (find the small words within your spelling word)
Sentences (put your spelling word into a sentence)
Word Slides (build your spelling word by progressively adding a single letter each time)
Syllables (break your spelling word into syllables)
Rainbow Words (each sound gets a new colour)
Alphabetical Order (a useful skill to learn when time to look up words in a dictionary)
Special Features (highlight the special features of your spelling word in red, in order to help you remember to spell it correctly)
You can cut them out and glue them inside each students' spelling journal, or cut and laminate them to display as a guide on how to complete each activity. Even have a few placed at a literacy center rotation group for students to complete, or use them as early finisher activities.
I have also added all of the activities together on 1 page you can print, instead of individual stars. This can then be glued on the inside cover of the Spelling Journal.
