Welcome to week 12! Set 12 words introduce prefix anti- and the suffixes –or and –ible. Part of this week’s lesson includes when to use –ible and when to use –able. Students also learn that what may appear to be a prefix or suffix, may just be part of the word. Among others, Guess the Covered word is included for this week’s lesson. Instructions for Guess the Covered Word can be found in the notes browser within the flipchart. All lessons are based upon the highly acclaimed strategies in Patricia Cunningham's "What Really Matters in Spelling." Children learn to spell by learning common spelling rules and learning to spell roots, prefixes and suffixes. Lessons are laid out in an easy to follow, time saving format. For best results students keep a composition notebook for all words and note taking throughout the year. Explicit directions are provided in the first flipchart, Lesson 1, for setting up the notebooks. Flipcharts all come with a free printable puzzle!
