Use vowel and consonant patterns to teach your students to spell their list words! Then watch them apply these skills to spell many more words!
Each short and long vowel lesson consists of 8 words, many chosen from high frequency lists. The lessons have been designed to teach the patterns, as well as develop vocabulary with synonyms, antonyms, homophones and words with multiple meanings. Your students will practice writing sentences with capitals and punctuation and also learn about plurals and verb endings. All the patterns and skills are introduced gradually and systematically, each lesson building on the previous one. The variety of activities, games and puzzles and lots of appealing pictures make this program very engaging! The colorful word walls serve as visual aids to teach the vowel and consonant/consonant digraph sounds and can be enlarged to put on the wall.
I developed this spelling program as well as a phonics and reading program to teach reading, writing and spelling skills to my struggling early readers, which included Special Education and ESL students. Both programs have been tested with many students over the years and proven to be very effective!
