My ‘Spelling, Sentence Writing & Handwriting Practice with Dolch 5’ pack for Year 3. It is designed to provide students with opportunities to practice spelling, searching for words, sentence- writing and handwriting using Dolch 5 (Blue) Sight Words and QLD beginner font. These activities meet the Australian Curriculum English Statements (Language: Phonics and Word Knowledge) for Year 3:
•Understand how to use letter-sound relationships and less common letter patterns to spell words (ACELA-1485)
•Recognise and know how to write most high frequency words including some homophones (ACELA-1486)
•The pack includes:
•A list of Dolch 5 (blue) sight words
•Word searches with answer pages (x3)
•Fill in the missing letters (4 pages)
•Tracing and sentence-making pages (x 42)
•Dolch 5 Spelling Test (3 pages)
Make sure you set your printer to print in ‘landscape’ for this package. Print pages 3-5 double-sided and laminate. Pages 6-11 are Word Searches with answer pages. Pages 12 - 15 can be printed single or double-sided, laminated and completed with dry-erase/ whiteboard pens. Students just write in the missing letters to spell the given word.
Pages 16 -58 are for students to practice writing the word, by tracing over the word several times, and then creating a sentence using the word. These tracing and sentence-writing pages could be printed single or double-sided and laminated to use at spelling stations with students completing the sheets using dry-erase/ whiteboard pens or they could be printed as single or double-sided handouts. Pages 59-61 are a spelling test on the Dolch 5 (Blue) words.
