Each flap book has two pages. When you print this file, the pages are in order. The top page of the flap book is the page with the bold print and dotted lines. The bottom page has the small print and solid lines. Glue the left vertical tab on the top page to the vertical space on the left side of the bottom page.
Carefully cut the dotted lines on the top page just to the vertical tab that was glued on to the bottom page. Be sure students do not cut all the way across the page.
Read the bold print on the top of each flap, one flap at a time. Lift flap and follow directions on the bottom page in each section.
The top flaps have the “checks” for students to make as they think through spelling with a suffix.
Students will place a “check” in each box, or not, to decide whether to “just add” the suffix or if they must change the base word before adding the suffix.
After completed, each of these flap books are perfect for students to refer to when spelling with suffixes. There is plenty of room in each flap to practice adding or “just add” suffixes to multiple words. Laminate the bottom page of the flap book & use dry erase markers for a group center activity.
