Spelloku goes way beyond the typical Sudoku type of puzzle, by utilizing letters which spell words (on a 9 x 9 grid). The words go together to make a phrase. Some "free letters" are given. These "free letters" are arranged in a visual pattern which goes along with the phrase. (Some visual patterns may be easier to see than others.)
Students will use logic, strategy, and even some intuition to figure out the phrase and solve the puzzle. They will apply their analytical thinking skills, test their visual perception, put their spelling ability to work, and have fun, too!
Each puzzle is the result of much thought and formulation, trial and error, and creativity. Because of the intricate combination of Sudoku-style puzzle, words in a phrase, and the careful placement of "free letters," this type of puzzle cannot be computer-generated. Each one is very unique.
Ten puzzles are included. Solutions to all the puzzles are included as well.
Great activity to give students who finish their work early and need something more to do. Or use it as a fun "reward" which will stimulate students' problem-solving abilities.
